Narrative Network Australia was formed by a group of academics and research students following the success and unanticipated level of interest and support for the Narrative as Research Symposium held in April 2006,in Melbourne.

In response to the considerable range of geographical and discipilinary locations, the network was formed to promote communication and sharing of resources and information and to provide a forum for the discussion and debate of issues concerning narrative research. It also provides a way for researchers to connect to others with common interests, within a supportive community. The Network specifically welcomes research students, and individuals outside of the academy, who share an interest in narrative research.
